Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is my home stay family?

A: The names of your home stay family will be sent to Dokkyo International Center before July 11 along with the names and ages of any children in the family, their address, and the distance they live from UWSP.

Q: What is the weather like in Wisconsin?

A: The weather in Stevens Point in August is usually quite warm and sunny. The average high temperature is usually in the upper 70's, but often temperatures climb into the 80's or 90's. Although pleasant weather is the norm, there can be great variations in temperature, especially during summer thunderstorms.  Also, evening temperatures can sometimes be a bit cool.

Q: What should I wear?

A: It is best to dress in layers.  Most days shorts/pants and short-sleeved or sleeveless t-shirts are appropriate.  On rainy days or in air-conditioned classrooms, a light sweater/sweatshirt or long-sleeved shirt will help keep you comfortable. You'll find that Americans tend to dress very casually most of the time.
