New Student Orientation

New ESL Program students should arrive at least one day before the ESL Program session begins. Your Form I-20 permits you to enter the U.S. up to 45 days prior to the "program start date" listed at item #5 on the form.

Depending upon the session, orientation activities will run 2 to 5 days. During orientation you will learn about the ESL Program, meet your instructors, get to know your new classmates & tour the UWSP campus. You will also take a placement test in preparation for your ESL classes.

Important notice regarding Orientation and Housing Contracts

The required ESL Program orientation typically begins before the UWSP Office of Residential Living’s regular academic year contract periods. As a result, new students may be charged a nominal weekly fee (currently $85) for pre-contract housing in the university residence halls (dormitories). These charges will be added to your university account and are payable when billed.
