Welcome!

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point English as a Second Language Program website and thank you for your interest in intensive ESL study at UWSP!

The ESL Program is located on the UWSP campus in the heart of the charming city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks UWSP in the top ten percent of all regional comprehensive public universities in the Midwest, while Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine rates UWSP among the top 100 four-year public universities in the United States.

My colleagues and I encourage you to explore all of the wonderful aspects of life at UWSP, like on-campus housing and classes, regular events and activities, and our experienced; professional instructors and staff. Your university experience at UWSP begins with 20 hours of English study a week arranged so you have evenings and weekends free to meet friends and practice your English in our safe and welcoming community.

Our goal is to encourage you to experience university life and American culture. As a UWSP Pointer, you may use the computing facilities, libraries, recreational facilities, and numerous restaurants on campus. You are also welcome to join any of the 200 UWSP student organizations and clubs, especially the UWSP International Club. Commonly known as the I-Club, the International Club is one of the largest and most active student organizations at UWSP, frequently sponsoring exciting and entertaining activities both on- and off-campus.

The ESL Program provides small classes, academic counseling, and conditional admission to undergraduate study at UWSP without a TOEFL score. ESL students study with us for a variety of reasons: some will take degrees at UWSP or another American university; others are professionals looking to improve their communication skills in English. Regardless, my colleagues and I will listen to your learning goals and do our utmost to help you realize them.

Come join UWSP's ESL Program to begin your university experience. We are eager to help you achieve your goals!

Best wishes from Wisconsin!
