Assistant Professor, Health Science

Position Description:|
The position is an academic year, tenure track position.  A doctoral degree with certification/licensure as a Health Care Professional is preferred.  Experience in health care settings and academic teaching are desirable.  Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communication in health care, informatics, leadership and management in health care, and health care administration.  Experience in developing and teaching online courses is beneficial.  The successful candidate will also establish and supervise community-based student service learning experiences, be an advisor for the undergraduate programs, and participate in professional and other service activities.

Department/University Description:
The University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point is a comprehensive regional university with approximately 8,700 undergraduate and 400 graduate students located in Central Wisconsin.  The Health Science Department is a unit within the College of Professional Studies, one of four academic colleges in the university.  

The Department of Health Sciences consists of two majors, Health Sciences and Clinical Laboratory Science.  The Health Science major encompasses four tracks:  Health Care Administration, Health Care Informatics, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Pre-Occupational Therapy.  The Clinical Laboratory Science major has three tracks:  Medical Technology, Cytotechnology, and Histotechnology.

Approximately 25-30 Clinical Laboratory Science students graduate each year.  A target of 50 graduates per year is the focus for the Health Science majors.  The department currently advises more than 300 students.  

Qualifications:
Doctoral degree with certification/licensure as a Health Care Professional is preferred.  Experience in health care settings and teaching are desirable.
