Position:
Vallier Treehaven Resident Ecologist

Position Description:
   
·         Coordinate all land management planning and implementation on the Treehaven property.
    ·         Increase programs and grant revenue towards Treehaven’s mission.
    ·         Build the capacity of Natural Resource Professional development to the state of Wisconsin.
    ·         Serve as Treehaven’s field ecologist/naturalist for research, teaching and site inventory.
    ·         Enhance the College of Natural Resources mission by supporting innovative teaching and ecological research at Treehaven.
    ·         Foster partnerships to build Wisconsin’s capacity for Natural Resources professional development.

Department/University Description:
College of Natural Resources, Treehaven.  Treehaven is 82 miles north of UWSP between Tomahawk and Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

Qualifications:
    
·        MS Required, PhD preferred in Natural Resources: i.e. Forestry, Ecology, Ecosystems Management, Conservation
              Biology, or related field.
     ·        Required, Demonstrated success in land management activities.
     ·        Required, Strong demonstrated abilities in personal and public communications.
     ·        Required, Strong writing skills.
     ·        Required, Ability to work independently, and within a cooperative team.
     ·        Preferred, Competency in GIS
     ·        Preferred, Successful teaching experience at university level within their academic background.
     ·        Preferred, Experience in successful workshop/conference coordination.
     ·        Preferred, Record of scholarly achievement in research and publications.
     ·        Preferred, Experience in grant writing    

Appointment Date:
September 1, 2008 or before.

Terms of Employment:
Academic staff - 12-month annual appointment.
