School of Education Recruitment & Retention Coordinator
Position Description:
The School of Education
at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point seeks an energetic, organized
individual with a strong commitment to student success, a background in student
development, knowledge of academic advising, and experience with recruitment and
retention of students with diverse backgrounds and in high needs teacher
certification areas.
Primary duties will include:

Plan and facilitate on-campus recruitment efforts for students of diversity
and in high needs areas

Build relationships with regional Wisconsin K-12 and post-secondary schools,
and community agencies

Collaborate with faculty and staff in the School
of Education
and across campus to identify/recruit/retain teachers of diversity and in
high needs areas, including partnering with other programs

Develop and deliver creative, compelling print materials and large group
presentations
-
Advise secondary teaching majors, especially in high needs areas, including
coordinating recruitment and induction programs
-
Coordinate support programs for students, for academic success, professional
tests, and field experiences, especially in matters related to diversity and
high needs areas

Write and coordinate grants aimed at recruitment/retention of candidates of
diversity and in high needs areas

Collaborate with counterparts throughout the state, including collecting and
analyzing data on recruitment/retention and program improvement
Department/University Description:
The School of Education
is located within the College
of Professional Studies,
offering majors in elementary, early childhood and exceptional education to
approximately 700 students. We also
offer teacher certification for approximately 900 secondary majors.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point is the only degree-granting institution in the north central part of the
state. Founded in 1894 as a
teacher-training institution, UWSP now offers 54 undergraduate majors and
confers master’s degrees in 12 disciplines (including Education).
Enrollment surpasses 8,000 students.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education or education-related
field
- Successful teaching &/or administration in K-12 &/or
university setting
- 3+ years experience working with diverse populations
- Experienced, licensed teacher (preferred)
- Expertise in recruitment/retention of students of
diversity and in high needs areas (preferred)
- Willingness to travel regionally (including valid WI
drivers license)
- Demonstrated technology skills (e.g., digital
slideshows, web pages, spreadsheets)
Appointment Date:
July 1, 2008
Terms of Employment:
This is an annual, full-time, Category A academic staff position.
Salary: $38,000-40,000 with excellent benefits.
