Position: Assistant Professor Educational Technology

Position Description:
Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Educational Technology and Instructional Resources.  In addition, the position includes: (a) team teaching in an introductory education block, (b) developing and maintaining collaborative arrangements with regional school systems, (c) teaching additional courses as needed, and (d) advising, mentoring, research, professional development, and service activities.

This is a nine-month academic year appointment.  Summer teaching may be available.

Department/University Description:
The School of Education is located within the College of Professional Studies, offering majors in elementary, early childhood, and exceptional education to approximately 700 students.  We also offer teacher certification for approximately 900 secondary majors.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is the only degree-granting institution in the north central part of the state.  Founded in 1894 as a teacher-training institution, UWSP now offers 54 undergraduate majors and confers master’s degrees in 12 disciplines (including Education).  Enrollment surpasses 8,000 students.  See our website http://www.uwsp.edu


Minimum Qualifications: 
Earned doctorate in Educational Technology or related field preferred. ABD  or Masters Degree with commitment to completing a doctorate will be considered.

Three to five years of full-time successful teaching experience in public/private K-12 school settings (including technology leadership and staff development).

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in use of emerging technologies, especially those that support student authorship, motivation, and critical thinking as pedagogical tools (e.g. podcasting, wiki’s; smart boards, moodling, discipline specific technologies, etc.).

Experience with college-level instruction and online instruction. Experience of success with diverse populations in a variety of collaborative settings.

Appointment Date: August 23, 2010  

Terms of Employment:
Tenure-track, assistant professor for terminal qualifications.
Lecturer for ABD or Masters with commitment to PhD completion.
Salary based on qualifications and experience.
