Position: Executive Director
Position Description:
The Executive Director position will serve as the top administrative officer of
the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology (WIST) providing leadership
and administrative oversight to all aspects of the WIST operations including
budget, finance, programs, personnel, facilities and equipment. Serving as the
WIST administrative leader the Executive Director will head the administrative
team in the development and operation of appropriate mission based short and
long term business plans. The Executive Director will provide administrative
oversight relevant to the three divisions of WIST (i.e. Education, Research and
Services). The Executive Director will take a lead role in establishing public
relations, networking and collaborative efforts that lead to acquisition of
grants and contracts or service revenue that support the continued operations of
WIST.
Department/University Description:
The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point is a four-year, primarily
undergraduate, comprehensive university with an emphasis on teaching. The
Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology (WIST) is a new program being
developed at UWSP. It is a joint program of the College of Natural Resources
and College of Letters and Science. Its focus will be on the development and
dissemination of sustainable technologies and associated social and economic
interests. It will build on the current academic and research strengths of UWSP
and seek to broaden those strengths through collaboration with relevant public
and private partners. Initial objectives of WIST would include the following:

Be a leader in
developing and applying technology needed for sustainable resource
utilization.
·
Provide
critical support, technology and innovation for Wisconsin’s business and
industry.
·
Develop,
commercialize and bring to market new natural resource based products,
services and business opportunities.
·
Educate
Wisconsin leaders and policy makers to assist them in positioning Wisconsin
to lead and compete in the coming bio-based economy.
Qualifications:
An advanced post graduate degree is required: Ph.D.
with a minimum of five years of experience or other terminal degree with a
minimum of eight years of experience. The following preferred

experiences:

Appointment Date:
March 1st, 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Terms of Employment:
This position is a base funded year-to-year academic staff, Category C.
Supervision is provided jointly by the Deans of the College of Natural
Resources and the College of Letters and Science.
