Position: Assistant or Associate Professor of Water Chemistry
Position Description:
Fulltime, tenure track, academic year teaching (100%) position in the College of
Natural Resources Water Resources Discipline. The successful candidate will
teach a course in water chemistry, and a course such as introduction to process
engineering calculations or fluid mechanics and hydraulics in the Paper Science
and Engineering Department and a course in his/her specialty. Other duties
include undergraduate and graduate advising, contribution to college and
university governance and perhaps assisting with other courses in the College of
Natural Resources. Faculty are expected to accomplish a record of scholarly
achievement in their field of interest to complement teaching responsibilities.
Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration in research and outreach with a
variety of centers within the college.
Department/University Description:
The Water Resources Discipline and the Paper Science and Engineering Department
are in the College of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin at Stevens
Point (www.cnr.uwsp.edu) which offers
premier undergraduate natural resources programs emphasizing integrated resource
management. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute
significantly to undergraduate and graduate curricula in both programs.
The College has approximately 1400 undergraduate majors, 120 graduate students,
and over 100 faculty and staff and there are 240 undergraduate majors and 37
undergraduate minors in the Water Resources Discipline. The Paper Science and
Engineering Department has 60 undergraduates. The University of Wisconsin
at Stevens Point is a comprehensive regional university with 8,400 undergraduate
and 400 graduate students. Stevens Point, a pleasant college community with a
population of 25,000, is in the hub of Wisconsin, 100 miles north of Madison and
midway between Milwaukee and Minneapolis. The area offers a wide range of
cultural, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. at or near completion in a natural resources or engineering
related field with an emphasis in water chemistry or related specialty is
required. Preference will be given to candidates who are registered professional
engineers or who are qualified to become registered professional engineers.
Experience and a desire to work with diverse populations of learners and
government tribal, and private stakeholders is desirable.
Appointment Date:
Winter semester 2010 (preferred); however, applicants who are available by
August 2010 will be considered.
Terms of Employment:
Assistant or Associate Professor in Water Resources, tenure track, full-time,
academic year appointment (9 months). Salary is commensurate with education and
professional experience.
