Position: Post-doctoral Research Associate
Position Description:
Primary responsibility will be research in biofuels in the area of
separation chemistry. The biofuels
process under development at UWSP produces multiple products.
These products must be separated for sale and or further processing.
The candidate should have a background in membrane separation technology.
The project will focus on separating fragmented lignin from solvents,
capturing acetic acid from aqueous mixtures, and the separation of mixed
alcohols and ketones. The research
associate will work in conjunction with UWSP faculty and staff to develop a
research program, run an independent research project and advise undergraduate
student research projects.
Department/University Description:
The Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology at the University of
Wisconsin - Stevens Point is offering a postdoctoral associate position in
biofuels research. UWSP is a four-year, primarily undergraduate, comprehensive
university with an emphasis on teaching. The Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable
Technology is a joint program of the colleges of Letters and Science and Natural
Resources dedicated to developing renewable energy technologies for sustainable
economic development.
Qualifications:
PhD at or near completion in chemistry or chemical engineering is
required. Experience in chemical
separation technology is required. A
strong background in membrane separation is preferred.
Appointment Date:
September 1st, 2009 or as soon as possible.
Terms of Employment:
Academic Staff, 9 to 12 month grant funded position with potential for renewal.
