Position: Assistant Professor, Family & Consumer Sciences
Position Description: The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor or Academic Staff Category B position as a lecturer in Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS). Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching in an FCS major, supervision of student teachers, and teaching in the 210 Graduate Certification Program and graduate program of Human and Community Resources. Scholarly activity and service to the department and university are expected. Service learning and provision of intercultural educational experiences both locally and abroad is encouraged. If hired as a lecturer, candidate must pursue and complete a doctoral degree.
Department/University Description:The FCS program offers degrees leading to Wisconsin state DPI licensure in Family and Consumer Sciences or certification in Family Life Education. The FCS program is located within the School of Health Promotion and Human Development. The School enrolls nearly 500 students in Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Promotion/Wellness, Dietetics and FCS, and over 50 students in Master of Science degrees in Human & Community Resources and Nutritional Sciences. Qualifications:PhD or ABD required for assistant professor rank. MS plus agreement to pursue and obtain a doctoral degree within 7 years of initial hire is required at lecturer rank. Public school teaching in FCS required. Experience in assessment, evaluation or research preferred. Background in FCS teacher preparation, early childhood education, vocational education, adult education, and human sexuality preferred. Skills and experience working with community organizations and diverse populations are desirable.
Appointment Date:An appointment may be made beginning August 2012 (fall semester). Initial screening will begin on January 15, 2012 and continue until an acceptable candidate is identified.
Terms of Employment:Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.
