Michael Steffes

Michael Steffes teaches Shakespeare, nature literature, and freshman writing classes. He earned a B.A. degree in Literature at Reed College, an M.A. in English at the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. in English at the University of California, Davis, where one of his mentors was poet and nature writer Gary Snyder. His research is focused on a number of related aspects of 16th and 17th century literature--representations of nature, uses of classical literature, and gender and sexuality. All of his classes emphasize student participation and include frequent writing assignments.
