Michael Williams
B.A. English (Hons), University College, Cardiff, University of Wales; M.A. (English), Washington State University; Ph.D. (English), Washington State University. Apart from composition, teaching and research interests include nineteenth-century American fiction, literary theory, postcolonial writing, and detective fiction. Publications include A World of Words: Language and Interpretation in the Fiction of Edgar Allan Poe (Duke University Press), and a variety of articles in journals such as American Literature, ESQ: A Journal of the American Renaissance and Poe Studies/Dark Romanticism. Member of the Editorial Board of ESQ and Poe Studies. Department chair since 1998.
