RECOVERY

To provide for recovery in the aftermath of an emergency involving extensive damage or disruption within the University community, the Emergency Response Team will order the actions and resources required to resume regular operations.

Currently (2008) UWSP is in the process of development of Continuity of Operations Plans for critical functions (those that cannot be interrupted for more than 12 hours). The UWSP COOP plans will be activated as necessary by the ERT.

During the recovery phase of each emergency that occurs, the Emergency Response and Planning Teams shall meet to evaluate the response, discussing what was learned, how our response could have been improved, whether the Plan needs to be modified, whether training and/or educational programs need to be launched, and evaluate if the emergency could have been prevented. A report detailing their findings will be submitted to the Chancellor.

One aspect of response and recovery is fire, smoke and water restoration. It is important these be addressed as soon as possible to mitigate any further damage, prevent mold growth/problems, limit odor, and to readily resume business. UWSP maintenance areas have response capabilities. Whenever outside assistance is needed it shall be contracted as soon as possible by the appropriate manager/director/supervisor. A list of potential Restoration & Cleaning Contractors contactors may be found in Section 9.4 in the contact list. This is a list of possible contractors, however UWSP is not limited to these contractors.

Property insurance questions are to be directed to the Director of Safety & Loss Control at 3901.
