Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm
Picture (22x22, 1.2Kb) Notification of an approaching storm will be made by the National Weather Service and relayed by Protective Services via audix and e-mail. Audix notification will occur through a building phone tree system. Call recipients should relay appropriate warning information to staff in their areas.
Picture (22x22, 1.2Kb) County sirens will sound in the event of a tornado warning. If sirens sound, building occupants should take shelter in the lowest safe location available, preferably in an interior room or basement. Avoid wide span structures such as gyms, pools or pole buildings.
Picture (22x22, 1.2Kb) Remain in your shelter area until instructed to do otherwise by your Building Safety Representative (identified by a fluorescent vest), Protective Services or local authorities.
Picture (26x26, 1.1Kb) Never try to outrun a funnel cloud or tornado in a vehicle.

Ice/Sleet/Snow
Notification of a major ice/sleet/snow storm will be made by the National Weather Service and will be relayed by Protective Services to staff via audix or e-mail. Refer to the UWSP Inclement Weather Policy, which can be obtained from the Personnel Office at ext. 2606.
