Keep the area clear. In general, victims should not be moved unless other hazards
pose an immediate threat to life. |

Call Protective Services at ext. 3456
or dial 911 and state the
location, nature and severity of the medical/emotional emergency.
If available, have someone remain with the victim(s) while the call
is made. |

Have someone waiting at the suggested entrance to direct emergency personnel
to the victim(s). |
 |
Follow any further instructions received from emergency personnel and/or Protective Services. |
 |
Offer first aid if trained and willing to do so. (Note: Offering first
aid outside of your job duties would be done as a Good Samaritan. You may not
be covered by state liability or workers compensation insurance in doing so.) |
 |
If blood is released, refer to the UWSP Health and Safety Manual for cleanup
procedures. If you feel you were exposed to blood or other infectious materials through the
provision of first aid or through a needlestick, contact Protective Services at ext. 3456 or
Safety and Loss Control at ext. 2618 for information regarding medical attention and reporting. |

American Red Cross in Stevens Point at 344-4052 offers instruction in first aid. |
