CO-PRESIDENT: Michelle LaFleur--- I am a senior majoring in Exceptional Education and Music. I grew up in Marinette, Wisconsin. I enjoy playing lots of games, being outside, and playing the saxophone. I am looking forward to being a teacher because I enjoy the dynamic enviornment within classrooms and I love the interesting and funny things children do and say.
CO-PRESIDENT: Hope Cameron--- I am a junior Broad-field Social Science major. I grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA and moved to Wausau a year ago with my husband and 10 year old daughter. I enjoy playing softball, spending time with my family and snowmobiling. I am excited to teach history and look forward to the many students I will meet over the coming years.
VICE PRESIDENT: Katie Artymiuk---Hi everyone! This will be my senior year at UW-Stevens Point. I am majoring in Communicative Disorders, hoping to one day be a Speech-Language Pathologist in the school system. I always knew I wanted to work in the school system with children, but it wasn't until 2 years ago that I changed my major from Elementary Education and decided to branch off in the area of Speech-Language Pathology.
PRESIDENT ELECT: Teri Malingowski--- I am a sophomore majoring in Exceptional Education with a minor in Cognitive Disabilities. A long term goal of mine is to become a sign language interpreter on the side. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, shopping and hanging out with my friends and family. I also love giraffes and buy anything sight that resembles them :) I want to teach special needs children because I feel that I can make a difference in their lives. Every student deserves an opportunity to do their best and succeed at every goal they make.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR: Alison Dwyer---Hi! I'm a sophomore from Menomonee Falls, WI. I'm majoring in English and Secondary Education and am a Dance minor. In my free time I enjoy reading, walking, playing tennis, dancing, volunteering, and being with my friends and family, especially my two younger sisters. I am passionate about learning and teaching, and am so excited to someday share my love for education with my students.
SECRETARY: Kelly Fitzgerald---Hello! I am a senior Natural Sciences and Biology Education major with minors in Chemistry and Adventure Education. I love being outdoors and am an officer for the Adventure Racing Club on campus. Kayaking, hiking and mountain biking are some of my favorite activities. I want to teach to share my love of nature and the world.
INVOLVEMENT COORDINATOR: Kaci Allard---Hi everyone! I am currently a senior here at UWSP. I am an Early Childhood Education major with a minor in ESL and Special Education. I want to teach because I love children and I want to change the lives of many people.
TREASURER: Kendal Koepp---I am a sophomore from Menomonee Falls, Wi. I am a Natural Sciences major with a teaching intent. In my free time I like to play tennis, be outdoors, volunteer, run and be with my family. My dream is to educate children in third world countries and eventually return to the United States to teach in urban areas. I am excited to become a teacher and look forward to sharing my love for learning with those less fortunate than me.
StWEA Advisors
Maggie Beeber graduated from UWSP with a major in Elementary
Education. She has been working as the School of Education Advising
Coordinator at UWSP for 20 years. She has also been an advisor for StWEA
for 19 of those years. She is originally from Tomahawk, WI.
Dr. Kym Buchanan teaches courses in educational psychology,
motivation, and technology. Kym's hometown is Portland, Oregon. He's
married, with two daughters.
Dr.
Christine Gould is originally from the Salt Lake City area where
she taught in both special education and general education settings. She
received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Her teaching and research
interests are children with special learning needs, giftedness, and
Asperger's syndrome. In addition to teaching at UWSP, she is the Director
of the Network for Gifted Education which sponsors College Days for Kids and
Youth in College.
