The dissertation examines three supervisor's roles in their respective relationships with cooperating teacher-student teacher pairs as they negotiate and make meaning of the student teaching field experience.

Off-Campus Learning Community Graduate Program.
Coordinator and Facilitator of graduate program that addressed needs of veteran teachers at their school sites. Participants: 52 veteran teachers, elementary, junior high and secondary from three school districts Created a model for learning community graduate program. Fall, 1998-2000.
Teaching the Early Adolescent to undergraduates. The course focused on incorporating Middle School teaching philosophies in classes for adolescents. Summer, 1998-present.
Reading in the Secondary School and Reading Methodology to undergraduates and graduates in all content areas. The course focused on using reading and writing in all content areas. Fall and Spring, 1994-present.
Supervision of Reading Programs. The course focused on defining and enacting the role of change agent as reading specialist. 1998 to present.

Responsibilities included: guiding reading and discussion of current professional literature related to the teaching of writing, facilitating interaction among elementary, secondary, and college participants, and responding to teachers as writers. 1989, 91-95.

Observed and conferenced with student teachers weekly, facilitated interaction between cooperating teachers and student teachers, evaluated student teachers. Traveled overseas Fall of 1993 to supervise 10 elementary and secondary student teachers in England and Ireland. 1990- 1994.
Instructor, Literature for Adolescents. Taught Literature for Adolescents to undergraduate English Education majors, Master of Arts Teaching majors, and veteran teachers. The course offered a
survey of literature for adolescents and teaching strategies in use of adolescent literature in junior and senior high school classrooms. Fall, 1992 and Summer, 1993.
Supervisor of Student Teachers, Secondary English Education student teaching program. Supervised student teachers in both middle and high school settings. Observed student teachers, encouraged student teacher/cooperating teaching interaction, and evaluated student teachers. Fall, 1993.

Taught seventh grade reading and language arts, 9-12th grade English and literature electives: basic composition, American literature, world literature, fundamental expression, advanced writing, reading improvement, independent reading, and journalism. Advisor: high school newspaper. 1970-1989.
