School of Education Quick Facts
The basic mission of the School of Education (SOE) is to provide quality pre-service training to undergraduates in early childhood, elementary and secondary education and to provide quality graduate, credit and non-credit, learning opportunities to educators in Central Wisconsin.

About SOE Students · SOE has 757 full-time undergraduate students and 180 graduate students enrolled. · The average GPA of incoming freshmen is 3.34; the average ACT score is 22.1. · In 2004-05, UWSP awarded 119 undergraduate degrees and 51 graduate degrees to SOE students. · The average GPA of last year’s graduating class was 3.59. · Last year 43 SOE students received scholarships totaling $43,350. · Most SOE students are from Wisconsin; some are from Minnesota and Illinois; one student traveled all the way from Hong Kong to study in SOE!
About Academic Programs in SOE
· The School of Education offers Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Exceptional Education and minors in Early Childhood Special Education and Exceptional Educational Needs; SOE also offers Master’s Degrees in Education.
About SOE · Currently, SOE employs 15 faculty, 3 academic staff, 6 classified staff, 7 graduate assistants, and 5 adjunct faculty. In addition, SOE employs 14 students who hold part-time positions within the school. · One hundred percent of SOE faculty hold a PhD degree.
· The School of Education is the oldest UWSP academic program. SOE has its origins in the Early Education Degrees that were awarded in 1894, during the founding days of UWSP (then called Stevens Point Normal School).
