Student/Intern Supervisor Resource Page

    As a student/intern supervisor, you are an extremely important and valuable person in this teaching experience.  Your role has been defined as follows:

Within the context of the ED 400 seminar, your role is to support and guide your respective student teachers in the construction/completion of their professional teaching portfolios.  As supervisor, you need to be familiar with the requirements for specific performance tasks to be posted/included in the portfolio (outlined in DPI approved Assessment Plans) of those majors and minors you are supervising.  See http://www.uwsp.edu/education/Reference/portfolio/index.shtm for the specific requirements for each certification major and minor.     

In addition, as supervisor you can facilitate student teachers development of reflections related to the performance tasks (see examples at this link:  http://www.uwsp.edu/Education/Reference/PDPQuestions.asp and linking them, in their written reflection, to the Wisconsin Teaching Standards, and the accompanying Knowledge, Skills and Dispositions for those standards. The role of supervisor will also includes approval of the exit portfolio, indicating that all performance tasks have been included, that two evaluations of practicum experiences are included and that the final evaluation(s) of student teaching is/are included.  You are also be involved in indicating student teaching proficiency as related to each of the 10 Wisconsin Teacher Standards as a part of the student teaching evaluation.
