Profile

Sandy Davis is a 2nd grade teacher at Plover-Whiting School in Plover, Wisconsin.  She was born in Storm Lake, Iowa.  Sandy attended Mankato State University for her BS degree and the University of Northern Iowa for her masters degree.  She has three children named Nate,  Lindsay, and Brittany.  Nate is a freshman at Mid-State Technology school majoring in computer networking.  Lindsay is 16 and a sophomore at Stevens Point Area High School (SPASH) and Brittany is 15 and a freshman at Ben Franklin Jr. High. They are very active in sports at school and in the summer.  Sandy spends many hours at basketball, volleyball, and softball games.   She has a masters degree in reading and was a reading specialist in the district for two years.  Sandy has also taught 1st and 3rd grades.

Other hobbies and activities she enjoys are snow skiing, walking, golfing, gardening, antiquing, dancing, and making crafts.  Sandy also likes watching the Packers play football.  She once owned her own craft business selling and creating her own patterns when she stayed home with her children.

Sandy is very enthusiastic about learning as much as she can about computers.  She took a class at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point two years ago on creating her own web page and really enjoyed it.  Sandy has taught her students how to work on the web page and they are each creating their own page.  It has been very exciting and great communication with the parents.  Pictures from the digital camera put on their web site can show science experiments they have done, field trips they have gone on and projects they are doing in class.  Relatives from other states and cities have enjoyed seeing what they are doing in school and what their classroom looks like and have e-mailed Sandy.

Sandy is very enthused about learning how to use the current brain research in her classroom.  It is very exciting to integrate technology with current brain-based research and multiple intelligences.
