"One technique I have used to help my kids learn is hands on science.  I encourage this by using my microscope at home and anything they find.  We have looked at everything from amoebas to zippers.  I also teach them how to use reference materials when they dont know the answers.  Hopefully this will be a useful skill and great experience for them to remember."  ... "I've always been in favor of teaching a foreign language to a child early on. My own undergraduate degree was in French and secondary education, so when I had children of my own it was natural that I wanted to pass on this appreciation for other languages and cultures to them. I feel that there is so much that we as parents can teach our children based on our own training, and that perhaps it is not always necessary to be driving them here and there to so many classes taught by others. We, who know our children the best, can teach at home to their specific intelligences."  ... Susan Zach
