The primary intention of this virtual center is to help inform educators, parents and students in the Stevens Point District of new ideas and research related to selected educational innovations. Right now material in this center deals specifically to concepts revolving around Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory, as well as those related to brain-based teaching and learning. Both of these educational innovations are dedicated to helping educators and parents better understand and potentialize the natural and multiple talents of children as they learn and grow.

Also, the CELT Center has been designated as a central repository of up-to-date information that can be used by a cadre of specially trainedteachers from across the Stevens Point District. This cadre of teachers hasbeen trained in Multiple Intelligence Theory and brain-based learning and teaching. In the future they will be sharing their expertise, ideas, materials, programs, and information with other interested people, especially other district teachers.

The center has many strands. These strands are meant to inform, link, showcase, and help educators, students, and parents learn more about related concepts, techniques and programs throughout the district. Please explore.

Both this virtual portion of the CELT Center and the teacher training program have been established with funds from the University of Wisconsin System's PreK-12 Technology Grant monies. State grant funds were allocated to encourage expert technology usage among Wisconsin teachers.

These monies were also designated to support collaborative partnerships between state universities and school districts from across Wisconsin. The funds used in establishing the initial stages of this center were applied for by Dr. Leslie Owen Wilson and Professor Susan Gingrasso of the University of Stevens Point, with collaborative help from Andrea Spears, a teacher with the Stevens Point School District.
