Mission Statement and Description of
Wisconsin Creative Problem Solving Programs
Wisconsin Creative Problem Solving Programs (WCPSP) is located in the School of Education, College of Professional Studies, on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) campus.
WCPSP houses both Destination ImagiNation® and FIRST™ LEGO® League programs for the state of Wisconsin. UWSP has generously supported programs like these since 1985. It is the mission of WCPSP to make available and to promote educational programs that will benefit all students in Wisconsin. WCPSP makes programs available that will:
· Promote creative and critical thinking;
· Provide programs that encourage the use of creative problem solving process(es);
· Have the potential to meet most, if not all, Educational Standards set by both state and federal governments;
· Challenge students in such a way that they become lifelong learners;
· Provide challenges that help students learn how to think on their feet;
· Provide the opportunities for students to learn how to work as part of a team and to appreciate and understand each individual’s unique style for change, process and decision-making.
· Give students the ability to recognize and appreciate talents and abilities unique to themselves and that of others.
· Provide opportunities to learn how to budget both time and funds.
Every person is unique and we know the programs we provide meet the needs of each student who is willing to take on the challenges provided by either program.
