The Youth Teaching Academy is a program for youth between the ages of 12-18 who would like to learn beginning teaching skills, teach lessons to younger children, and assist a Youth in College teacher.
Youth Teaching Academy members should be genuinely helpful to the teachers with whom they are working. I hope that you have fun during the program, but your first purpose is to help the teacher to whom you have been assigned. You may request to be assigned to a certain teacher or class, but you will be placed where your services are needed.
As a member of the Youth Teaching Academy, you will be acting as a role model to younger children. It is important that you extend yourself to help the students in the class, that you follow all class rules, that you display a positive attitude, and that you are enthusiastic. Younger children will look up to you. If you are enthusiastic, they will be enthusiastic.
If you would like to apply to become a member of the Youth Teaching Academy, complete the Youth Teaching Academy Application, fill out the Emergency Information Form, complete teh Parental Release and Hold Harmless Agreement, and obtain a Letter of Recommendation from one of your current teachers using the form provided. This information should be mailed to the address included on the Application.
