Once admitted to the Central Wisconsin Alliance for Early Childhood Education Program, students will be responsible for abiding by the following expectations.
I. Complete UWSP Math 90 and 100 (equivalent) or test-out
Deadline: September 2014
Students who do not have the equivalent of UWSP Math 90 and 100 completed should speak with an advisor as soon as possible about test-out options and/or course availabilty.
Deadline for summer 2014 start: May. 30, 2014
The Praxis I is a standardized test covering Reading, Writing and Math skills. In order to begin taking courses in fall 2013, students in the CWAEC program must attempt this test at least once and have official scores sent to UWSP (recipient code 1919). This test must be taken at least six weeks prior to the deadline in order for scores to arrive to UWSP in time.
Deadline for Summer 2014: May 15, 2014 (apply to UWSP for fall 2014 because the system will not allow you to apply for a summer term, but the courses and financial aid will start summer 2014)
Once initially accepted to the Central Wisconsin Alliance for Early Childhood Education Program, students must apply to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Formal admission to UWSP is required to pursue this program.
- This is not the traditional application process that most students use to apply to UWSP. This process is specific to the Central Wisconsin Alliance Program. Please do NOT apply to UWSP online OR send your paper application directly to our Office of Admissions. The UWSP School of Education Advising, Recruitment & Retention Office will provide you with the appropriate paperwork.
- We recommend applying for financial aid as soon as possible after applying to UWSP.
Deadline: July 31, 2014
Students admitted to the Central Wisconsin Alliance Program must formally apply to the Professional Education Program. All application requirements must be met prior to applying.
V. Praxis II Content Test
The State of Wisconsin requires students to pass a content-specific standardized test prior to applying to student teach. Students in the Central Wisconsin Alliance for Early Childhood Education Program are required to take the "Elementary Education: Content Knowledge" Praxis II test #0014 (paper-based) or test #5014 (computer-based). This test covers content in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. To register, visit Educational Testing Services
online. Students should complete this test in summer 2015.
This is a newly legislated test that will be required of all Early Childhood Education majors.
Students are expected to maintain satisfactory and steady progress in the program and must have at least a 2.75 grade point average in major, minor and cumulative to be eligible to student teach.
This program is offered based on the number of professionals enrolled in the Central Wisconsin Alliance Program. A minimum enrollment must be reached in order for these courses to be offered. If that number is not reached the courses will be rescheduled for the following calendar year.
