SOE Graduate Program

The School of Education has a graduate program to meet your professional needs based on your interest and future professional goals.

To apply, you need to have a teaching license and a 3.0 grade point average (range of 0 to 4.0) in your undergraduate program. You can still apply if your undergraduate average was below a 3.0 and be admitted with probationary status. You will then need to earn a B or better on the first 9 graduate credits you take here.

Let us give you some reasons why you want to come here for graduate studies:

  1. You plan your graduate degree with an advisor of your choice, giving you flexibility in planning your master's.
  2. You can make changes to your graduate program based on your preferences.
  3. Courses are offered online or on-campus or through a mixture of the two options.
  4. You can include an add-on certification or specialization as part of your graduate program.
  5. Graduates and employers speak of reputation for high quality courses and programs.
  6. The quality of faculty, courses, and programs meet all the expectations of the University of Wisconsin System.
  7. Courses are taught by full-time faculty members who have earned doctoral degrees and have practical teaching experiences in elementary and secondary schools.
  8. We provide great service, we make every effort to answer your phone call and emails within a day, and address any academic needs as rapidly as possible.

Here are our two graduate degrees:

  • Master’s of Science in Education-Elementary (for professionals in their first year of teaching or who want an elementary education focus), and
  • Master’s of Science in Education-General (for professionals with two years of experience, and who want to pursue certifications, certificates, and specializations).

Examples of available certifications include: exceptional education, reading, English Language Learners, Early Childhood Education, Health Education, Gifted and Talented (pending), and Alternative Education (pending). Specializations involve physical education, mentor, renewing the educator, and secondary content areas (i.e., history, biology, music, and English).
