CERTIFIABLE PROGRAMS

UW-Stevens Point offers certification in the following majors, secondary education minors, elementary education minors, and graduate certifications.  Elementary education majors may minor in any UWSP minor, but can receive certification to teach ages 6-13 in certifiable minors. Due to changes in state requirements, this list may change at any time.

** Must also have a certifiable major in a science or social science
NOTE: To be certified to teach at any level (elementary, secondary, K-12) you must meet current Department of Public Instruction (DPI) mandates. You must meet the newest requirements regardless of the requirements that were listed in the catalog when you entered the program.

EMPLOYMENT OUTLOOK

Based on the 2007 Supply and Demand Report issued by DPI, the State projects the following employment outlook for the next 5 years:

Supply of teachers - BELOW Average Physics, Family and Consumer Education, Foreign Language, Early Childhood Special Education, Speech /Language Pathologist
Supply of teachers - AVERAGE Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, General Science, Math, Music, Exceptional Education, ESL
Supply of teachers - ABOVE Average English
Supply of teachers - WELL ABOVE Average Early Childhood, Elementary, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education
