2014 Precollege Programs w/ DPI Scholarships

 

This is not a complete list of precollege programs offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, but only those represented by the Diversity & College Access  Department that have DPI scholarships for ALL students eligible for free or reduced school lunch, and have an eligible GPA (2.0 and above) in core clasess. Some programs have a higher GPA requirement.  They are funded in part or entirely through DPI Precollege Scholarships.   


 

 
 
  
  

 Basic Requirements:

1. Be a Wisconsin resident

 
2. Be eligible for free or reduced school lunch
 
3. Have a current GPA of 2.0 or higher for some programs in core academic classes
 
4. Must apply using a DPI Scholarship Application Packet (will work for all the programs listed below; however, some programs have their own packets in addition to the DPI packet)
 
5. Obtain necessary signatures and grade transcripts; all materials must be submitted to the Diversity & College Access Office - Precollege Programs for consideration
 
6. Apply early!

Camp COFAC - Music Session

 
Grades: 9 - 12 
Program Dates: June 22 - June 28, 2014

Work with many talented musicians like yourself! Whether your interests lie in band, choir, jazz, or all three, Camp COFAC is the place to go this summer! A small number of DPI scholarships are available for students eligible for free or reduced lunch, and a 2.5 GPA or higher.
 
 
 

Camp COFAC - Studio Art Session

 
Grades: 9 - 12 
Program Dates: June 22 - June 28, 2014  

Point Studio Art Camp offers a program that gives a rich and varied art experience to high school students. The workshop format gives you five diverse art making opportunities within newly remodeled studios: glass fusing and slumping, metal casting and relief scupture, life drawing, and assemblage sculpture. Other workshops TBA! A small number of DPI scholarships are available for students eligible for free or reduced lunch, and a 2.5 GPA or higher.

 

 
English for College

(for English Language Learners)


Grades:
 9 - 12
Program Dates: June 15 - July 12, 2014
Application Deadline: April  11, 2014
Limit: 42

Four-week program for students who are seeking to learn English as a second lanugage. Program covers reading, writing, and speaking English. It also focuses on occupational and educational opportunities. DPI scholarships and some GEAR-UP scholarships available to eligible students.


 

Exploring Your Talents

Grades: 8 - 12
Program Dates: July 6 - July 25, 2014
Application Deadline:  May 1st, 2014
Limit: 24

This 3-week camp involves skill building in science in the mornings and creative writing in the afternoons. Live on campus and find out what it's like to be a college student. DPI scholarships and some GEAR-UP scholarships available to eligible students.  Students must  have a 2.50 GPA in core classes.   This year there will be a TV-film component to the camp.  Students will write skits in their Creative Writing Class, and learn to run TV studio equipment, film skits, and receive a DVD, that the class has made, when they go back home.
