Available for about 10 years, this fund was created when UW System made a successful case to the Legislature that UW needed extra help in recruiting and retaining quality faculty. System allocated a specific amount to each campus. The UWSP allocation is being used both for salary supplements (in a very few cases) and for additional equipment/computers/support to help recruit new faculty. Many departments use these funds to purchase a new compute for new faculty. Since the fund is limited, we often receive only a portion of the costs identified with one computer per new faculty member. Dean sends requests to Vice Chancellor around June.
