  • First Annual Central Wisconsin Mentor Academy

    The first annual Central Wisconsin Mentor Academy will be held at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point on June 14, 2007. The academy is co-sponsored by the UWSP School of Education, CESA 5, and CESA 9. The target audience for the Academy is secondary mentors, including special education teachers. The purpose of the Academy is to deepen understanding of quality mentoring skills and the characteristics of effective mentor programs.

    Participants of the Academy must be nominated by their district administrators. Participants will be awarded a $400 stipend provided by the UWSP Jeanette Fierek Secondary Education Advancement Fund.

    The Jeanette Fierek Secondary Education Advancement Fund was established through the estate and trust of Jeanette Fierek, who passed away in 2003. Jeanette was a 1940 graduate of UWSP. She retired in 1979 after 32 years of coordinating on-base education programs throughout the world as an education services officer with the US Air Force.
