Renew to Recruit Campaign - Improving Facilities to Enhance Pointer Athletics

The challenge:

The UW-Stevens Point Athletic Department receives no state tax dollars to fund its operating expenses. Instead, it is a self-sustaining program that relies on ticket sales, private gifts, sponsorships and conference revenues.

The need:

A number of needs have been identified by the Athletic Director and his staff. Improving outdoor facilities are a top priority. This includes baseball, softball, soccer and football.

Phases One and Two-targeted for UWSP Academic Year 2006-2007- supports baseball bleacher and dugout improvements, softball bleacher and scoreboard improvements and soccer bleacher and scoreboard improvements.

Phase Three-targeted for UWSP Academic Year 2007-2008- This phase supports a pavilion restroom/concession facility centrally located to serve baseball/softball and soccer fields as well as community visitors to Schmeekle Nature Preserve. In addition, this phase will focus on improvements to the Quandt area including a Hall of Fame, updates to the Brodhagen-Counsell room, other fan-oriented improvements and an athletic department operating endowment.
