** THIS COURSE IS HELD ON THE UW-MARATHON COUNTY CAMPUS IN WAUSAU.

This course teaches the techniques financial managers use to:

  • become familiar with basic financial management concepts, and techniques.
  • understand the objectives of financial market investors as they relate to corporate financial decision making.
  • gain basic knowledge of the financial environment (i.e., markets, instruments, terms, etc.).

In addition the course covers:

  • How to calculate loan payments.
  • How to analyze a firm’s financial statements.
  • Understanding financial markets and the securities traded in the markets.
  • What is risk?
  • How risk affects the value of securities.
  • How to analyze long-term investments in plant and equipment.

Prereq: Acct 210; approved major/minor, and consent of instructor (students must be able to read a balance sheet and income statement).

BUS 350 is a required core course for the UWSP business major.
