Description: This course will enhance the students understanding of how important communication is for all individuals. The challenges facing individuals with complex communication needs (CCN) directly impacts their successful independence and employment within their communities. Students will learn about different AAC strategies that will enhance their successful participation in their own communities.

Learner Outcomes:

1. Students will increase their awareness of the various AAC competencies individuals with CCN must develop for successful independence and employment.
2. Students will learn different strategies that will support independence and enhance individuals with CCN to gain success in employment settings.
3. Students will increase their awareness of the vocabulary that individuals with CCN need to successfully participate in a variety of communication settings.
4. Students will increase their awareness of Wisconsin Medicaid requirements associated with funding of AAC voice out-put devices.
