MUED 787 Seminar in Music Education II

​Description This course is part of the Master's Degree in Music Education sequence but could also be taken by educators who seek to fulfill requirements for ceritification and/or gain a deeper understanding of effective teaching strategies for music educators. MUED 787 focuses on the philosophical foundations of music education, developing teaching objective, and exploring current trends in methodology. The scheduled meeting time is concurrent with the UWSP music camp. This overlap will allow graduate students the opportunity to have group seminar exploratins while also observing live applications of these discussions through the many UWSP music faculty who staff the camp. One could choose to observe faculty teaching band, jazz, choir music theory, composition, improvisation, chamber music, and world music. While there will be time before and after the camp when the graduate students will meet alone. It is the immediate and pactical application of these philosophical foundations within the UWSP Music Camp that makes this course so unique. MUED 787 will give the graduate student the opportunity to address deficits in specific areas of one's musical palette while simultaneously exploring the foundations inherent in all areas of education.
