​Description

 

Students have the option of taking a one-three credits (graduate or undergraduate) in conjunction with the MAPPS program. Experiential Learning Activity Available.
The requirements for this course are as follows:
           
1.               One-credit option:
a.      Attend 8 Mini-course sessions (Feb.4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 25, April 1 – 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) AND choose i or ii below.
                                                    i.     Complete all Mini-course activities and assignments. Submit in a 3-ring binder by the end of the semester OR
                                                  ii.     Assist with operating the Mini-course such as childcare instruction (instructor approval required)
2.               Two-credit option:
a.      Complete #1 above.
b.     Write 8 lesson plans based on MAPPS tasks. See D2L for requirements/rubric.
c.      Teach 3 of the lesson plans to a small group or a full class of children.
d.     Write a reflection about each lesson you taught. See D2L for requirements/rubric
3.               Three-credit option:
a.      Complete #1 and #2 above.
b.     Become familiar with MAPPS website, materials, and research
c.      Plan a MAPPS Mini-course for your school using MAPPS curriculum.
                                                    i.     Submit a detailed outline of your plan (see D2L for requirements)
                                                  ii.     Submit supporting documents (meeting minutes, principal approval of plan, etc.)
4.               Graduate Credit option:
a.      Complete #1, 2, or 3 above.
b.     Write a 3-6 page (double-spaced) summary reflection of your MAPPS experience.
