Teaching English as a Second Language Certification 

The Teaching English as a Second Language Certification has three certifications to meet your needs.  Click on the image for the complete brochure and read below for information on how to obtain each certification.



How to Obtain the English as a Second Language Certification

Obtain transcripts from your schools. 
 
Send copies of your transcripts and your current teaching certification to the UWSP ESL Team to review transcripts and determine courses needed. 

Contact the UWSP ESL Team at: (715) 346-3036 or email: Tobias.Barske@uwsp.edu.  Mail to:  UWSP Department of Foreign Language, Attn:  ESL Team CCC 490, 1801 Fourth Avenue, Stevens Point, WI 54481. 
 
Register and complete the required courses.  Visit the UWSP Continuing Education website at:
http://www.uwsp.edu/conted/credit.  Click on the semester term to find available courses.
 
After completing the coursework, schedule the Praxis II exam with Educational Testing Service (ETS). 
Visit the ETS website: www.ets.org.  The test code for ESL is 20361.
 
Finalize the certification process by submitting your license application to the School of Education.  For more information, visit the School of Education website at:  http://www.uwsp.edu/education/Pages/TeacherLicense/addonCertificates.aspx

How to Obtain the Bilingual-Bicultural Teaching Certification

ESL Certification is required in order to add the Bilingual-Bicultural Teaching Certification. 
 
Send copies of your transcripts and your current teaching certification to the UWSP ESL Team to review transcripts and determine courses needed.

How to Obtain the Bilingual-Bicultural Teaching Certification

Upon completion of the required coursework for the Bilingual-Bicultural Teaching Certification, you will receive a UWSP certificate from Continuing Education.
