About the Institute

This course explores our understanding of behavior guidance and how our experiences and philosophy influence how we guide the behavior of the children in our care.  We will look at the importance of building relationships with children, develop multiple strategies for dealing with challenging situations and explore the many techniques we have available to help children gain the skills to regulate and monitor their own behavior.

  • Guiding Children's Behavior in After School Programs is a blended format training that requires the completion of advance readings and assignments presented in a workbook sent to registrants prior to attending a one-day in person training.
  • The readings and assignments are equivalent to 8 hours of training and are used as the basis for discussion and application during the day.
  • This is a Tier 3 training opportunity and carries 15 hours of continuing education credits and is approved for a YoungStar optional point.
  • To receive credit, participants must bring their completed workbook to the in-person training.
