Explore the role afterschool programs play in partnering with schools and families to support childrens’ school success. Look at how the expanded learning opportunities provided by afterschool programs can be integrated to enhance and promote learning. Learn strategies to help make homework time more successful.

Jenell Holstead
, Ph.D. Assistant Professor University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 

Jenell Holstead, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from The Pennsylvania State University in 2005 in psychology. From there, she earned a Masters of Arts in Educational Psychology in 2008 and a Doctorate in School Psychology in 2010 from Indiana University. Since 2006, she has been researching and evaluating out-of-school time programs, with special emphasis on 21st Century Community Learning Centers. She serves as a local evaluator, technical consultant, and professional development trainer for numerous out-of-school time programs.




Cathy Scheder
, MS, Continuing Education University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

Cathy Scheder is an Outreach Program Manager in  Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point where she works directly with the Schools of Education and Physical Education and Athletic Training, primarily coordinating teacher certification programs for K-12 professionals. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Agency Programming and Camp Management, and her Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on training and curriculum development, both from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College.  She has 25 years of experience working with camp and youth development programs and has been directly involved with the Wisconsin Afterschool Network in professional development planning and curriculum development for the afterschool environment.
