The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), is pleased to announce the 15th annual FOCUS conference for health care providers and DQA staff on November 16-17, 2016, at the Kalahari Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. The FOCUS 2016 conference is being developed in collaboration with DQA, health care provider and provider association representatives.

This year's special session is, "The Art and Science of Chronic Disease Management" and will address many of the most common chronic diseases faced by residents residing in WI healthcare facilities. David Mays, MD, PHD will deliver the keynote address, "Letting Go of Happiness, Holding on to Mental Health."

The theme of the FOCUS 2016 conference is, "Teach, Learn, Collaborate." The conference will address a wide variety of health care related topics. Christopher Ridenhour, BA, will deliver the keynote address titled, "Light 'em Up and Watch 'em Go!"

Past attendees with an account with UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education:
  • Use your email from last year to login.
  • Forgot your password? An email will be sent with instructions to reset your password.
First time registrants:
  • Enter an email address. This will be your customer log-in for future conference.
Registering someone else:
  • Checkmark the box at the top of the page.
  • Both the registrant and you will receive a registration confirmation letter.
Registering multiple registrants:
  • Select "add additional registrant".
  • Do not check out after the first registrant.
Do not forget to select the "terms and conditions" on the payment page before submitting your payment.

​2016 Lodging

Kalahari Convention Center, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
A block of rooms at the Kalahari Resort has been reserved for conference attendees at the current State Prevailing Rate of $82 per night for single occupancy.  Double through quadruple occupancy is $129. Make individual reservations by calling the Kalahari at 877-253-5466 and ask for the Focus 2016 Conference Room Block.

Hotel room rates are subject to applicable state and local tax unless a tax exempt ID or S211 form is presented at check-in. Please note that the Kalahari requires a one-night deposit when the reservation is made. The room block will be held until Saturday, October 15 2016. After that date, the regular room rates apply.


Nursing Home Adminstrators and National Association of Social Workers, Wisconsin Chapter CEUs will be applied for.
