Commencement Information for Faculty and Staff Participants

Thank you for offering to participate in the spring commencement exercises. 

Please inform any faculty and staff members who did not respond to the initial request but would like to participate that they should email University Relations and Communications at commencement@uwsp.edu with the following information: name, department, date of employment (year only) and if they are hooding (please note name of candidate you are hooding when replying). 

The ceremony will be held in the Multi-Activity Center (indoor track) on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. (College of Letters and Science and College of Natural Resources) and 2 p.m. (College of Professional Studies and College of 
Fine Arts & Communication). All participants will wear academic regalia appropriate to the highest degree held.

Please note the following instructions:

• Faculty should report to the Health Enhancement Center (Quandt lobby) at least one-half hour prior to the ceremony. Signs will be posted directing faculty to line-up location. Faculty members will process in two lines according to seniority.
• A faculty marshal will usher faculty into the Multi-Activity Center (indoor track). Those hooding or presenting diplomas should process with other faculty members.

Hooding Candidates

***Please make note: Candidates are hooded on stage and not on the floor in front of the stage.***

• Watch for the candidate(s) you are hooding. When they approach the stage, stand and walk with them to the stage.
  
• Step onto the raised platform next to the name reader table. Take the hood from the candidate(s) and place it over their head, with the hood draped to the back. Exit the stage the same side you entered when all your students have been hooded. Interim Provost Greg Summers will guide the hooding procedure.
  

Presenting Diplomas

Watch for the candidate(s) you are presenting a diploma. When they approrach the stage, enter the stage from the left and stand next to the dean of the college. The student will walk across the stage and shake the hands of the Chancellor and the Dean. The diploma will then be given to you to hand to the student. Please note that faculty members will only be able to present diplomas to family members.

Doctoral, Master’s and Bachelor's Degree Candidates
