Completing the Application to the Communication Major
1. Make certain you've completed all required courses. You
cannot apply if you have not completed and received grades for at least 7
credits at UWSP from the required list (below). You may apply if your last
required course is Comm 100 and you are enrolled in and passing that course.
However, acceptance is contingent upon successfully passing Comm 100.
a. Comm 100
b. Any one of Comm 171, 271, or 273
c. Any one of Comm 160, 190, 192, 230, 240, 280
2. You must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 in all Communication courses taken at UWSP in order to be eligible for the major. Transfer credits will not be counted toward Premajor requirements or toward your Premajor GPA. Comm 101 does not count toward your Communication GPA.
3. You must not have completed more than 13 credits in Communication courses at UWSP at the time of application.
4. If you have completed 60 or more credits toward graduation, you must have an overall GPA of 2.25 or higher.
Once you have determined that you meet the minimum eligibility requirements, complete the Application to the Major. Fill out the form online, print it out, sign it, staple it to the top of a current Degree Progress Report (one printed within a week of submitting the application), and turn in the completed application to the Communication Office (CAC 219/225).
