                                              COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course examines computer mediated communication
and how it impacts on interpersonal relationships. Increased
use of technology to support human communication has
altered the conventions of communication interactions. This
course will consider interpersonal application of
collaboration technologies for recently developed Web
Based tools such as e-mail, bulletin boards, and
conferencing. Special attention will be given to using
technology to improve interpersonal relationships while
engaged in formal and informal organizational tasks. We will
focus on positive enhancement of the work environment by
motivating, helping, educating, and cooperating through
computer mediated communication. You will learn in three
ways throughout this course: 1) By doing -- you will use the
Internet to communicate with each other and with your
professor, to work on projects,  and to display completed
work; 2) By critical reflection -- you will read literature,
write about what you've read, and read and respond to other
student reactions to the same literature; and, 3) By creative
application -- A group project will challenge your ability to
apply theoretical  learning to your personal work environment.
