2006 PARENT PROGRAMS
Parent participation is essential to the success of the Suzuki Method, and the American Suzuki Institute has planned various activities to help parents fulfill their role. Parents attend lessons with their children and help them prepare for the next day’s classes. Free lectures for parents and teachers are scheduled Monday-Thursday. The topics include Suzuki philosophy, communication, parent-child interaction, goals, early childhood development, working with teenagers and instrumental techniques and musicianship. You will receive a schedule of lectures upon check-in.
Also of interest to parents is the Every Child Can! course. This course is an introduction to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy and its application to Suzuki education. It provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching, learning, and the parent’s role. This is a six-hour course and is being offered Sunday, July 30, 9 am – 12 pm and 2 – 5 pm. A class fee does apply to this course, and advance registration is required. For more information on the course content, see the Teacher Development Course information page.
