ASC CLASSES SPRING 2006

INDIVIDUAL LESSONS
Violin, viola, voice, cello, flute and piano lessons are offered in 20 minute, 30 minute, 45 minute and 60 minute blocks of time. Teachers may group students together so that parents and students can learn from observing others.

CHAMBER MUSIC
Weekly chamber music coaching is available for advanced students. Participating in this class requires the approval of the individual lesson teacher. Contact the Director for details.

ASC Orchestra—Dee Martz, Director
This early orchestra experience is open to violin and viola students in book 4 and above, and cello students in book 3 and above. To prepare for membership in this group, it is suggested that students develop music reading skills equivalent to those presented in both volumes of the Joanne Martin “I Can Read Music” in their individual lessons. 

ASC orchestra meets on Thursday from 5:00-6:00 pm in room 240 of the Fine Arts Building. Spring semester rehearsals begin on January 26, 2006. Class will not meet February 23, March 23, or April 6. The orchestra will perform in the 2:00 pm ASC recital on Saturday, May 13. 

Dolce String Ensemble – Kyoko Fuller, Director
This violin ensemble, a repertoire and performance group, will work on materials from the Suzuki books as well as from outside repertoire. All violin students in grade 7 and higher, who have begun study in Book 5, are eligible for membership in Dolce Strings. Violin students in Book 5 and above who wish to gain entrance to Dolce Strings prior to grade 7 must have completed two years in ASC Orchestra or may, with permission of their private lesson teacher, enroll in both groups simultaneously.

Dolce String Ensemble meets on Fridays at 5:00 pm in Room 240 of the Fine Arts Building from January 20 – May 12th with the exception of February 3, February 24 and March 24 it will meet in Room 250 of the Fine Arts Building. For more information contact Mrs. Fuller at 715-346-4951. 

Central State Chamber Orchestra – Dave Becker, Director
This select performance group is open by audition to all high school string players in central Wisconsin.Students younger than age 14 are permitted to audition for CSCO only when granted special permission by both Mr. Becker and Mrs. Martz. Permission will be given only when additional personnel are needed to provide CSCO with a balanced compliment of musicians. If under these circumstances, a violin student who is younger than 14 passes the audition and wishes to participate in CSCO, the student must also be a member of the Dolce String Ensemble. Current members of CSCO do not need to re-audition.

CSCO meets on Saturday mornings two times each month. Contact Mr. Becker for audition materials and the details of the schedule. His studio number is 715-346-4902.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM OFFERINGS
Marathons, solo recitals, home concerts, the newsletter AMBASSADOR, parent education classes and numerous public performance opportunities sponsored by ASC are included in the ASC fee.

PARKING
Permits issued for the 2005-2006 academic year are valid through most of August, 2006. If you would like to purchase a permit, or have any questions about Suzuki parking, please stop in the Suzuki Office.

ASC POLICIES
Parents are required to attend all lessons until the teacher has determined the student to be an independent learner.

  1. Teacher assignment and student participation in program activities is at the discretion of the Director.
  2. Make-up lessons will be given for teacher absence only, or in the unlikely event that the University cancels school due to the weather.
  3. A separate enrollment form for each child must be completed prior to commencing classes each semester.  Failure to complete an enrollment form will result in a $15 late application fee.
  4. All previous fees must be paid in full to enroll for the next semester.
  5. A minimum of 40% of the semester fee must accompany the enrollment form, which is due by Janauary 15, 2006.  A $15 penalty will be assessed for those enrollment forms and first installment payments that arrive after that date.  The remaining balance is due in two equal installments on March 1st and April 1st.  A $10 late payment fee will be assessed for installment payments arriving after these due dates.
  6. Refunds will be given for cancellations received prior to the first class meeting of each semester.
