WEDDING RING was described by Ruth Webb as "an attractive, heavy, brilliant flint glass pattern." Unfortunately, the pattern was called DOUBLE WEDDING RING by S. T. Millard, while closely related, non-lead pattern of the 1870s, consisting of interlocking double rings, was called SINGLE WEDDING RING by Alice Hulett Metz. To further confuse collectors, Doris and Peter Unitt illustrated, as SINGLE WEDDING RING, still another pattern featuring rings with pointed bottoms that create a herringbone design around the base of the bowl. Today it is understood that Wedding Ring designates the lead-glass pattern of single, round, interlocking rings. (50 Favorites catalogue)
