Ashburton was one of the first patterns to "win wide favor," as Ruth Webb Lee states in "The Popular Ten in Pattern Glass: (Antiques, August 1937). A simple design of round punties offset over panels, it was one of the few pattern glass designs considered, in the 1930s, to have been a "genuine antique." Its production originated close to 100 years earlier in the late 1830s or early 1840s. FF p14 |
