Technical
Grant Reviewer
Technical
reviewers conduct the first screening of the incoming grant
proposals. They are responsible for:
-
determining
if the minimum criteria for funding have been met,
-
checking
all budget calculations,
-
checking
correlations between activities and budget items,
-
and
identifying any omissions or shortcomings that may weaken
the proposal.
In
late January, each technical reviewer receives approximately
15 proposals for review. Each proposal is assigned to one
technical reviewer.
All
the technical reviewers meet in mid-February. The purpose of
the meeting is to identify proposals that do not meet the
minimum criteria for funding and come to a consensus about
which proposals should remain in the applicant pool (and
therefore which will be sent on for merit review)
Typically
technical reviewers have served as a merit reviewer for
multiple grant cycles before becoming a technical reviewer.
Merit Grant
Reviewer
2/2/2007
Due to the tremendous response in
the general grant category (73 proposals vs. 48 last year),
the WEEB is still seeking individuals to serve as reviewers.
If interested please
contact the WEEB office and/or
complete an
application form.
Merit
reviewers conduct the second screening of the grant proposals.
In mid-February each merit reviewer is sent approximately 10
proposals. Each proposal is reviewed by at least three merit
reviewers.
All
the merit reviewers meet in mid-March. The purpose of the
meeting is to come to a consensus about which proposals should
be recommended for funding. The WEEB makes final decisions
about which proposals to fund at their April meeting.
Typically
merit reviewers have expertise in environmental education,
forestry, or energy (the topic areas in which the WEEB
provides funding).
Site Reviewer
Site reviewers conduct an on-site review
of funded proposals. The purpose of the review is to provide
feedback information to the WEEB about the project.
Site reviews are scheduled at the
convenience of the reviewer and the project director, but
typically take place between May and October.
Generally site reviewers have previously
served as merit reviewers .
