   REQUIRED ABSTRACT

   Limit to space provided.

This project will allow Freeland Jr. High School Family Consumer Education staff and students to build energy awareness in the school and surrounding community.  The FCE teacher will take a lead role in developing two units: Energy Usage and Energy Efficiency. The Freeland District’s Curriculum Coordinator will correlate the units to the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for Family Consumer Education and Environmental Education. Students will develop displays and presentations that can be shared with the community members during the “Spring Fling,” a family-oriented event, held every April. These displays will educate the community about energy usage and energy efficiency. In addition to displays and presentations at the Spring Fling, students will participate in a compact fluorescent light bulbs fundraiser to help raise funds for the future Family Consumer Education activities that will further promote energy efficiency.
