Purpose

Proposals must be
primarily focused on forestry and forestry concepts. Proposals submitted should be respectful of the roles that
forest management, products, conservation, protection and
preservation play in our economy.
Several statewide initiatives already
exist in forestry education. Project proposals should not
duplicate, but instead address gaps in, utilize, or complement
these current efforts.
For proposals working
with a K-12 target audience, preference will be given to
those that address gaps in, utilize, or complement the LEAF
program. LEAFs mission is to improve and increase forestry
education in Wisconsin K-12 schools. To learn more about
LEAF, visit www.uwsp.edu/cnr/leaf
Contact the LEAF office
(leaf@uwsp.edu
(715) 346-4956) to discuss how your proposal facilitates or
enhances forestry education for K-12 students.
Possible projects include:
- training for
teachers and/our students on our forest resource;
- training in
sustainable forestry concepts and methods;
- workshops
on private woodland management;
- community educational events;
- community educational use of
urban green spaces and street trees;
- cooperative
educational uses of community forests;
- conduct forestry education
literacy assessments.
This is not intended to
be an exhaustive list.
