Governor Jim Doyle's Conference Welcome:

Governor DoyleGreetings High School Teachers and Students!

As Governor, I would like to extend a personal invitation to you to participate in the 2008 Governor's High School Conference on the Environment on November 12, 2008 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The State of Wisconsin has long been a leader in energy resource management and this year’s conference, Student Power: Conserving Your Future with Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, provides an excellence opportunity for each of you to join the state’s environmental and renewable energy efforts. I hope you will take the opportunity to learn about recent initiatives from the Governor’s Task Force on Energy Efficiency and Renewables, as well as Clean Energy Wisconsin – my plan for improving energy independence, growing new jobs, and cleaning our air and water.

This conference will present students and teachers with an important opportunity to learn about energy efficiency and conservation, renewable energy alternatives, and energy-related careers. In addition, you can develop environmental leadership skills and deepen your appreciation of our state’s natural resources.

During the conference, students will explore the renewable energy possibilities in Wisconsin and learn how to implement low- or no-cost energy initiatives to reduce their energy consumption. They will be able to showcase energy-related projects they are working on and network with other high school students, university students, and career professionals. Please join me in celebrating and protecting our state's natural resources by participating in this excellent opportunity to promote renewable energy alternatives and energy conservation in Wisconsin. I hope to see you there!
